Manitoba Museum

The Manitoba Museum is divided into three attractions: the museum galleries, the science gallery, and the planetarium. The museum galleries hold more than 2.9 million artifacts and specimens that reflect the human and natural history of Manitoba. Head to the planetarium to see the wonders of the universe, displayed through multimedia shows that recreate the current night sky and highlight the latest space discoveries. In the science gallery, visitors can test their engineering skills by building remote-controlled race cars and experimenting with LEGO® bricks.

• Each attraction requires its own admission fee, which is discounted if you purchase admission to all three attractions.

• Admission is free for Indigenous people and children under 2 years old.

• Most of the museum is wheelchair-accessible. Wheelchairs and strollers are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

• Admission is free for up to two support people accompanying a person with a disability.

• Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the museum.

The Manitoba Museum is located at 190 Rupert Avenue, next to the Centennial Concert Hall. Street-metered parking is available nearby along Rupert Avenue, Lily Street, and Pacific Avenue. Public buses stop at Centennial Concert Hall, about a minute’s walk from the museum.

Opening hours are Tuesday through Sunday, mid-morning until late afternoon; hours are adjusted on national holidays. On the first Friday of every month, from 4pm to 9pm, admission is free for all three attractions, with special programming such as drop-in tours, pop-up concerts, and hands-on activities.

Winnipeg’s premier performing arts venue is adjacent to the Manitoba Museum, making it a good choice for post-museum entertainment. The Centennial Concert Hall is the home of the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra (WSO), the Royal Winnipeg Ballet, and the Manitoba Opera, and it hosts a busy calendar of touring national and international acts.
