The town, re-established across the Brudenell River from the point, has since become a primary harbor and deepwater port. The principal local industry is shipbuilding. A rock causeway links the Georgetown shore with Brudenell Island, a former 1750s Scottish cemetery.
King's Playhouse is on Hwy. 3 at 65 Grafton St. The summer theater presents professional repertory productions in a 300-seat 1983 playhouse that is a reproduction of the town hall. Concerts and Tuesday night ceilidhs are held as well. A beautiful garden is located behind the building. The box office opens daily at 1; phone (902) 652-2053, or (888) 346-5666 (within Canada).
