Hilton Toronto/Markham Suites Conference Centre & Spa

Service was not that great. Not what'd you'd expect of the Hilton brand. Great exterior and lobby areas, but room was awful. Old, out dated and not well taken care of. Chipped walls, uncleaned stains and smears on door jams (like the bathroom), draft from the windows (which you had to climb across one bed to open). We had to request change of sheets for one bed as there were some stains and hairs. Their cleaning lacks attention to detail. No deep cleaning or dusting done. Walls were thin, a big dog was barking at all hours making it hard to rest. You can hear wveryone in the hallway which made us concerned for our own privacy when speaking. The TV they have playing when you walk in advertises that at Hilton you can leave the planning to their team, but when we asked about local events, like ice skating directly across the street at the Municipal building, they had no clue and could not make recommendations for tourists. The attendants at the door do not greet you. They just get quiet and stare as you walk past before resuming their conversation with each other, not engaging. Front desk staff was friendly when we checked in, but staff in general lacked follow up. Made requests for things like a room cleaning or for new towels and they were forgotten half the time. Someone cleaned our room and took the towels, but didn't replace them at one point.

Great room, lovely facilities. The in hotel restaurant was very good and reasonable.
