Econo Lodge Ellensburg Near Univers

I drove 4 hours to visit a friend for one night/ breakfast the next morning and needed somewhere to stay. I checked in and left my bags to go to dinner. The hotel was dirty and weird activity was going on with two other guests in the parking lot outside as we left, one guy was doing drugs- or appeared to be -and he was yelling at a woman inside her room that she appeared to be living in. I Returned several hours later and our door would not open. Front desk could not open it either even with master key, she then told us to try to get in through our window because she thought it was unlocked (it was not, but why would she expect it to be unlocked with our stuff inside). She told us she would put us in a different warm room while we wait for her to look for the door user manual, it was 15 degrees outside. The room she first tried to put us in didn't work and she said she forgot that door was broken too and left us outside again while she went to program a key to get us into a different room- she did this and we waited for her to fix our door. 20 minutes or so later our door was unlocked for us and we finally had access to our bags- and the desk workers seemed surprised we wanted a different room but got us one set up. Before leaving for this new room I shared I understood what happened was not her fault but asked who to contact for a refund the next day because the events of the broken door had ruined the entire evening, and my trip was only one day. I needed to sleep for my early wake up - breakfast and drive home the next morning, and being locked out and dealing with getting let in got me to bed way later than planned. I Was told unless i checked out right there she could not refund me and at this point I was so frustrated at the hotel, the communications I was having, and the whole experience- that I did so. Then after the check out process she told me she actually could not give me money back but to call in the morning to talk the manager. I left with nowhere to stay after 11pm and drove until I found another open hotel. I paid for a second room there. I never saw a charge for this econolodge so they did not take my money, but the whole experience made my entire trip not enjoyable and was a huge disappointment. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone and AAA should not either
