Amami Onsen features an enormous Japanese-style garden, which sees cherry blossoms bloom in the spring, and crimson, orange, and gold foliage in the fall. The Onsen can be enjoyed on a day trip from Osaka, but for the full experience, consider staying at least one night. Along with lounging in traditional Japanese robes, sleeping on plush bedding and relaxing in hot springs, you’ll enjoy Japanese home cooking made with seasonal ingredients.

Amami Onsen Nanten-En is easy to reach by public transport. Take either the express train or Koya line from Osaka Namba to Amami station; the ryokan is a 1-minute walk away. If you plan to drive, the guesthouse has parking.

Amami Onsen Nanten-En remains open throughout the year for all four seasons. The onsen are open 24 hours per day, but close briefly during the evening for cleaning. For overnight guests, check in time is in the middle of the afternoon, while check out is mid-morning.

Amami Onsen’s Japanese garden is home to hundreds of different types of plants and shrubs that reflect the foundations of classic Japanese landscape gardening, which is renowned for its sense of tranquility.
