The Rain Forest Nature Trail, off South Shore Road at the west end of town, is a half-mile interpretive loop through an old-growth forest of Douglas fir, western hemlock, western red cedar and Sitka spruce. Moss drapes the giant trees and carpets the forest floor, which is crowded with dense growths of sword fern. For information about other area hiking trails and recreational activities contact the Quinault office of the Pacific Ranger District, 353 South Shore Rd., Quinault, WA 98575; phone (360) 288-2525.
