Elegant Victorian mansions, quaint miners' homes and old-fashioned storefronts mingle in this mile-high community, built precariously on the steep inclines of the Black Hills. Spring through fall, visitors spend the daylight hours hiking, riding, rock climbing, mountain biking, fishing, hunting or sightseeing. In winter 7,000-foot peaks and crisp mountain air greet downhill and cross-country skiers and snowmobilers.
