The Ohio Light Opera, the residential professional company of The College of Wooster, performs operetta and lyric theater mid-June to mid-August at Freedlander Theatre at 329 E. University St.; phone (330) 263-2345 for tickets. The college is a private liberal arts school with about 2,000 students.

Alice Noble Ice Arena, at 851 Oldman Rd. on the Wooster High School campus, offers public skating times. The arena also is home to the Wooster Oilers hockey team. The arena hosts a variety of activities, so phone for public skating schedule; (330) 345-8686.

Shopping

Downtown Wooster is a vibrant shopping area featuring many upscale shops. Gallery in the Vault, 105 E. Liberty St., offers art and gift items in an old bank building where shoppers can go inside the vault. Stock up on laundry, kitchen, home organization and cleaning goods at the Everything Rubbermaid retail store at 115 S. Market St, right off the town square.
