The town also is the birthplace of cinematic pioneer Fred Niblo, who directed silent films such as 1925's “Ben-Hur: A Tale of the Christ” and the 1921 version of “The Three Musketeers.” Born in 1874, Niblo also was an actor and producer as well as one of the founders of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
