Phelps Mill County Park, along the Otter Tail River, offers picnicking and fishing; the mill doesn't operate but is open for viewing. DeLagoon Park, south on US 59, offers trapshooting, winter sports, skating, volleyball and summer beach activities; Maplewood State Park is noted for scenic beauty, particularly in the fall when maple leaves are ablaze with color.
Another landmark is Inspiration Peak, the second highest point in Minnesota. Otter Tail County has more than 1,000 lakes, and the panoramic vista from the peak's scenic overlook reveals some of them. The view is at its most colorful from late September to early October, the height of fall foliage season.
