Recreational activities include cross-country skiing and snowmobiling. The 120-mile-long Paul Bunyan State Trail begins in Brainerd and continues north; the first 112 miles are paved for bicycling, hiking and skating. Auto and motorcycle racing takes place May through October at Brainerd International Raceway, north on SR 371 to 5523 Birchdale Rd.; phone (218) 824-7223 or (866) 444-4455.
