At the waterfront is a 2.5-mile boardwalk that winds along the Grand River, ending at the Grand Haven Lighthouse and beach. Popular beach areas include Grand Haven State Park, 1 mile west, and P.J. Hoffmaster State Park, 10 miles northwest off US 31.
A large musical fountain on Dewey Hill at the waterfront combines light, water and music in nightly concerts held at dusk, Memorial Day through Labor Day and weekends only the rest of May and September. During the holiday season it appears as a 40-foot nativity scene and offers evening performances during December.
Trolley car routes through Grand Haven offer convenient access to area attractions and a pleasant way to tour the town. The Harbor Trolley operates from Memorial Day through Labor Day. For views from the water there are sailing charters on Lake Michigan. Peak fall color occurs early to mid-October.
