Stretching west 160 miles from Fort Walton Beach to Cat Island off Gulfport, Miss., Gulf Islands National Seashore covers more than 135,000 acres, 80 percent of which are submerged lands. Most of Florida's portion is accessible by car and includes Naval Live Oaks Reservation; part of Perdido Key; Fort Barrancas and the Advanced Redoubt on the Naval Air Station Pensacola; the Okaloosa area near Fort Walton Beach; and portions of Santa Rosa Island including the Fort Pickens area.
