National Museum of Civil War Medicine, just e. of SR 355/Market St. at 48 E. Patrick St., portrays how coping with sickness and death during the Civil War ushered in a new era of medical treatment. Exhibits vividly illustrate different aspects of Civil War medicine and include such re-creations as a field dressing station and field and pavilion hospitals. Other exhibits highlight nursing and modern military medicine. Special events and educational programs also are available. Time: Allow 1 hour minimum.
