McGulpin Point Lighthouse
500 Headlands Rd., Mackinaw City, MI, 49701
McGulpin Point Lighthouse is 2.3 mi. w. on Central Ave. then just n. to 500 Headlands Rd. The lighthouse was in use 1869-1906, and after its decommission it was used as a private residence. In recent years the process to restore the structure has begun, and a light once again shines from the tower. Visitors can climb the spiral staircase to reach the top for a view of the Straits of Mackinac, Mackinac Island and the Mackinac Bridge. Historical items chronicle the history of the lighthouse as well as local history and culture. Time: Allow 30 minutes minimum.
