Father Marquette National Memorial is .2 mi. n.w. of the bridge via US 2; exit in the Marquette unit of Straits State Park. The memorial honors Jacques Marquette, the French explorer who established the state’s first European settlements at Sault Ste. Marie and St. Ignace. Interpretive trails through the 52-acre park provide panoramic views of the straits and Mackinac Bridge. Picnicking is permitted. Time: Allow 1 hour minimum.
