Buffalo Transportation Pierce-Arrow Museum
263 Michigan Ave., Buffalo, NY, 14203
Buffalo Transportation Pierce-Arrow Museum is at 263 Michigan Ave. The development of transportation in the Buffalo area is chronicled through exhibits of vintage automobiles, motorcycles, bicycles and such related motoring memorabilia as signs, parts and accessories. Of particular interest are the vehicles that were manufactured locally by the Pierce-Arrow Motor Car Co. and E.R. Thomas Motor Co. The Buffalo Filling Station, based on a preliminary design developed by Frank Lloyd Wright, is housed inside an addition to the museum. It features a copper roof; two 45-foot, copper-clad poles that Wright called “totems”; an attendant’s quarters with a fireplace; an observation room on the second level; and overhead gas tanks. Time: Allow 1 hour minimum.
