Trails and Rails Museum is at 710 W. 11th St. The Family History Center is the new entrance to the museum. Exhibits depict the evolution of wagon, train and automobile travel. Historic buildings on the grounds include an 1898 Union Pacific depot, the 1884 Loup River Freighters Hotel, an 1860 log cabin, an 1898 Baptist Mission Church and a ranch house. The county's first frame schoolhouse, built in 1871 by pioneers traveling the Mormon Trail, contains period furnishings and features a livery barn, which houses antiques, wagons, a postal car, Mormon hand carts and a working blacksmith shop. An archives provides genealogical information. Time: Allow 1 hour, 30 minutes minimum.
