Roadside Assistance
Members of AAA Southern Pennsylvania are entitled to AAA's 24-hour Roadside Assistance. (AAA Plus members receive additional assistance). Roadside Assistance benefits are activated 72 hours after becoming a AAA member. Click here to join AAA. Please note: Roadside Assistance guidelines are subject to change without notice.

Eligibility

Roadside Assistance Providers
AAA selects Roadside Assistance facilities for their ability to render Roadside Assistance and perform emergency repairs. AAA cannot guarantee that these facilities will have the parts and equipment to make repairs, nor can it guarantee priority service.

Eligible parties
Roadside Assistance covers the AAA member, not the vehicle. Service will not be provided to non-members, even if they have possession of a member's car. However, any eligible vehicle -- see below --, if occupied by a AAA member, is entitled to Roadside Assistance service.

Eligible vehicles
Roadside Assistance will be provided for:

  • All properly licensed and inspected four-wheeled motor vehicles of passenger, pleasure, or recreational type, if Roadside Assistance services can be safely delivered
  • Dual wheel campers / motor homes are eligible for all services except towing, extrication / winching and tire service. Dual wheel unloaded pickups are eligible for everything except tire service.
  • Rented passenger and commercial vehicles are eligible for service - with the exception of taxi cabs and limousines.
  • Vehicles are not eligible for service if they have been abandoned, illegally parked or impounded due to an ordinance infraction.
  • Trailers are not eligible for service.
Allowable Service Calls
AAA members requiring more than four (4) Roadside Assistance calls in a Membership Year will be charged for the fifth and each call thereafter by the facility rendering the service or billed by the Club. Also, no reinbursement will be made when the four-call limit is exceeded.

Your eligible membership benefits are provided as explained. However, if Roadside Assistance benefits are used excessively, AAA Southern Pennsylvania reserves the right to deny renewal of membership.

Roadside Assistance Services Provided

Mechanical Adjustments
Minor adjustments will be made in an attempt to enable vehicle to operate under its own power. Costs of parts / materials are at owner's expense. If vehicle can't be started, towing will be provided.

Mobile Battery Service
When our Battery Service specialist arrives, he or she will use a state-of-the-art battery tester, which was specifically developed for mobile use and is FREE to any AAA member. The tester will calculate the battery charging system operating level, which will notify our specialist if the battery simply needs a boost or should be replaced. This diagnostic test eliminates the guesswork and gets you on your way. The test is quick, professional and FREE. More information here.

Tire Service
If vehicle's spare tire is inflated and serviceable, it will be installed to replace flat tire. If no such spare is available, vehicle will be towed. Tire repairs, and installation or removal of snow tires or chains is not covered.

Extrication and Winching Service
Vehicle will be extricated / winched when it can be safely reached from a normally travelled road or established thoroughfare by a service vehicle. Additional help or services are not covered. Service does not include:

  • Snowbound vehicle recovery
  • Vehicles driven off regularly travelled roads
  • AAA Plus coverage includes delivery of services by a second truck and operator for one hour at the scene.
Towing Services
When vehicle cannot be driven after attempting all services listed above, it will be towed one time per disablement at no charge to one of the following:
  • The Roadside Assistance facility rendering the service
  • A maximum of three miles in any direction from the scene.
  • AAA Plus provides free towing up to 100 miles from the scene
Lockout Service
Service will be sent to gain entrance to a vehicle having its keys locked inside. If key is broken or lost -- or if the service provider cannot gain entrance, locksmith service up to $50.00 (or reimbursement for commercial locksmith work) will be provided.
AAA Plus provides up to $100.00 for locksmith service, if such service is necessary to unlock the vehicle or make it operable

Fuel Delivery
A supply of fuel (enough to reach the nearest service station) can be provided, at the cost of current pump prices.
AAA Plus provides the supply of fuel at no cost.

Emergency Repair Check Acceptance
Roadside Assistance facilities will accept a AAA member's personal check of up to $250.00 for any services or repairs. A valid AAA Membership Card and identification must be presented. The name on the check must match AAA member's name.
