Canal Road takes you through the forest along the Delaware and Raritan Canal to the town of Griggstown, which was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1984. Continue along scenic Laurel Avenue to Kingston, which includes five historic districts as well as the John W. Flemer Preserve and Delaware and Raritan Canal State Park.

This section of the byway retraces the route from Laurel Avenue and Rocky Hill Road and includes a short detour into Rocky Hill, whose historic district dates back to the late 1700s. The village includes 145 historic buildings on Washington Street and Crescent, Montgomery and Princeton avenues.

Returning to Canal Road, enjoy the forest scenery alongside the canal before crossing the Griggstown Causeway. Catch glimpses of the Millstone River through the tall trees that line this two-lane highway leading back to the town of Millstone.
