This small settlement at the confluence of the Mun and Mekong rivers provides a quiet base for visitors wishing to explore the Emerald Triangle. Located on a picturesque peninsula between the two rivers, it is a good place for boating or fishing on the Mekong. Comfortable hotel and bungalow accommodation is available. About 20km north is the overhanging cliff of Pha Taem, featuring prehistoric paintings of people, fish, elephants and turtles estimated to be at least three millennia old. Views from the top of the cliff across the Mekong to Laos are spectacular.
