Museo do Pobo Galego

Santiago is more than a noted shrine, it's also one of the main towns in Galicia. The Museo do Pobo Galego (Museum of the Galician People), set in the old convent of San Domingo, explains Galicia and the traditional way of life in this part of Spain. There are displays of tools, pottery, costumes, handicrafts and musical instruments, as well as exhibits on Galicia's dolmens, stone circles and hill forts. The museum's galleries encircle the 17th-century cloister; in one corner a superb staircase, with three intertwining flights of steps, rises through the building.
