Museo das Peregrinacións

The Museo das Peregrinacións (Pilgrimage Museum) tells the story of pilgrimage in general, and the Santiago pilgrimage in particular. Exhibits show how the cathedral and town grew around the apostle's tomb, how the routes west across Europe developed, what the pilgrims wore and how they traveled. There's a copy of the fascinating Codex Calixtinus, a 13th-century guide to the route, full of tips about travel and information about Santiago. Look for the collection of souvenirs 14th-century pilgrims took home.
