This recreation of a Dutch town has at least to be admired for its thoroughness. It is not a model town but the real thing complete with canals, windmills, reclaimed land, a replica of the Dutch Royal Family residence, a cheese market, shops and so on. A living town, the aim is for the population eventually to reach 10,000. The town was constructed (on reclaimed land) as an experiment in environmental harmony, and a computer continuously monitors the conservation and recycling systems.
