Ginza

( Do not miss )

The one part of Tokyo that everyone knows is the richest part of the city, a mixture, in London terms, of Mayfair and Knightsbridge. There is plenty of 'quality' but it also holds plenty of snob appeal - it is an area of expensive boutiques, department stores and exclusive galleries. The central point is Ginza 4-chome Crossing. Of interest is the Yoseido Gallery, which specialises in the sale of modern Japanese prints at 5-5-15 Ginza; the International Arcade selling tax-free items at the railway end of Miyuki Dori; the Sony Building at 5-3-1 Ginza with its restaurants and boutiques; the Wako Department Store, topped by the famous Hattori Clock Tower, on Ginza 4-chome Crossing; and the Nihonsu Centre at 5-9-1 Ginza, where you can taste sake.

Open: Shops and stores 10-6. Wako closed Sun. Nihonsu closed Thu. Yoseido closed Sun
