Surrounded by the glorious scenery of the Japan Alps, Kamikochi is a base for outdoor enthusiasts. There are plenty of walks and hikes to suit all levels of competence. Not far away, the Shirahone Onsen is a famous hot spring resort which serves as a base for walks around the Norikura Plateau. You can also enjoy (from June to October) the scenic bus route known around here as the Norikura Skyline Road.
