This small town in northern Honshu is worth visiting for its splendid collection of original samurai
houses. Look out for the Kawarada-ke House, and the neighbouring Samurai Shiryokan, a samurai museum. The Denshokan Museum is dedicated to ceramics, armour and cherry-bark carving, whilst the Hirafuku Memorial Art Museum shows crafts from around the region.
