Sportpaleis De Kuipke
( Highly Recommended ) Without doubt cycling is the Belgian national sport and circuit riding has come into prominence in recent years. This somewhat ordinary sport appeals to young people and, together with judo, is one of the few sports in which Belgium has a chance of winning an Olympic medal. In November the covered circuit at the Kuipke is packed to busting and fanfares encourage the six-day cyclists to victory. Even if you know very little about cycling but happen to be in the city during the six-day race, don't miss the chance to sit in the central area, drinking beer and cheering on the cyclists. Besides, this is one of the rare opportunities to wander through the concrete catacombs of this monument to cycling history. Regular techno parties and rock concerts are held to keep the complex profitable. The sport and recreation office will be able to give you the details. Address: Citadelpark Phone: Sport and recreation office: 09-2218071 Open: For events Bus: Tram 12, 13; bus 5, 50 Accessible: Few Admission: Variable Other: S.M.A.K. |
