Nationalmuseet

Copenhagen's Nationalmuseet (National Museum) is one of the finest of its kind in Europe. There is a lot to see, so use the floor plan to get your bearings. The museum has outstanding exhibits on Danish history, with such superb Bronze Age artifacts as burial remains in oak coffins, a golden sun chariot and the silver Gundestrip cauldron. Among Iron Age finds are the magnificent North Slesvig Golden Horns. There is a collection of lur, the horn instruments that were used for ceremony and communication. Other major collections cover the Middle Ages and the Renaissance, Egyptian and classical antiquities, and human cultures. There is also a children's museum and a theater.
