Sikló (Funicular)

( Highly Recommended )

This is not just worth seeing, but is also fun to ride. Opened to the public in 1870, like the rest of the Castle District it suffered irreparable damage during World War II, and was rebuilt in 1986. Originally the railway was steam powered and adroitly used the passengers and car going down wards to pull the passengers in the other car upwards. You can enjoy a wonderful view of the Pest area from the funicular. The ride from the Buda end of the Chain Bridge up to Castle Hill takes two minutes. The car also carries prams and wheelchairs. Buy your tickets there.
