For a taste of cosmopolitan city life, but with an unusual parochial flavour, Pest is a lavish collection of eclectic architectural styles - grandeur on an imperial scale. At street level, however, there is almost a village atmosphere, with an abundance of parks and gardens, small side-streets and inviting squares. The presence of the Danube, and the grid system of roads, some of which are pedestrianised, make finding your way around Pest very easy.
