DRIVING

Speed limit on motorways: 130kph

Speed limit on major roads: 100kph

Other roads: 90kph

Cars with trailors, coaches: 70kph

Speed limit in built-up areas: 50kph

Seat belts must be worn in front seats and rear seats where fitted.

There is a total alcohol ban for drivers in Hungary.

Petrol (leaded and unleaded) is readily available. Opening times vary, but there are 24-hour stations. Self-service is the norm. Credit cards are not accepted everywhere.

Assistance with insurance can be obtained from the Hungaria Insurance Company,1113 Budapest, Hamzsabégi ùt 60 Phone: 209 0730. Vehicles with damaged bodywork may only leave the country with an official certificate.
