Basiliek van het Heilig Bloed
The Basiliek van het Heilig Bloed (Basilica of the Holy Blood, see also pages 68-69) has been a place of pilgrimage for many
centuries. The basilica consists of two chapels; the lower St. Basil's Chapel, which displays a Romanesque style, and the
upper 15th-century Gothic Style chapel with the famous Relic of the Holy Blood. In the Middle Ages, this vial, containing
two drops of holy blood, was considered one of the holiest relics in Europe. It is still exhibited every Friday.
