Symbol of Perfection Hotel Arts, the highest building in Spain and Barcelona's only waterfront hotel, towers above the entrance to the Port Olímpic. Its post-Modern interior is filled with modern Catalan art and on its waterfront terraces, a vast copper fish designed by Frank Gehry has become a new symbol of the city.
Hotel Construction Several new hotels have been constructed at the top of La Rambla, in an attempt to revitalise this famous street. The apartment-style Citadines, designed by Esteve Bonnell, is one of the more attractive.
Hotel Choices It is advisable to make reservations in advance throughout Catalonia, especially in the cities and the coastal regions. Two types of accommodation are available - hotels (H) and pensions (P). Hotels are classified from 1- to 5-star, while pensions have 1 or 2 stars. As hotel standards vary considerably, view the room before committing yourself.
