Chocolate manufacturer Antonio Amatller i Costa commissioned Josep Puig i Cadafalch to remodel Casa Amatller into an extravagant home with a neo-Gothic façade decorated with sculptures, coats of arms and floral reliefs, and crowned by a stepped gable. Inside the broad entranceway, the beautiful wooden lift was one of Barcelona's earliest elevators. Note also the amazing carvings on one interior doorway depicting animals making chocolate. A combined ticket is available for a guided tour, La Ruta del Modernisme, which includes the three façades of Casa Amatller, Casa Batlló and Casa Lleó-Morera and discounted entry to attractions.
