Despite being the original Royal Palace, home of King Otto between 1836 and 1842, this is an easily missed small white building on the south side of Plateía Klafthmonos. The refurbished royal apartments are surprisingly modest, and the walls display many prints and paintings of Athens over the years, including work by the British artists Edward Lear and J M W Turner. Also on display is King Otto's copy of the 1843 Greek Constitution, and there are changing exhibitions in the ground floor galleries.
