Single Vision

Single vision lenses are those that have a monofocal or one focal correction. The lenses can be used to correct refractive errors at distance, near or mid-range.

Trifocal

Trifocal lenses have three viewing areas in the same lens, each with its own focal power to allow the wearer to see three different focal areas by looking through differing areas of the lens. Often used for advanced levels of presbyopia, a condition when the person can no longer focus adequately at near distances, to allow for viewing at distance through the top of the lens, intermediate distances through the middle segment and reading through the bottom segment of the lens.

Standard Progressive

Standard Progressive Lenses include, but are not limited to the following trade names; Access, Adaptar, AF Mini, Continuous, Vue, Freedom, Sola VIP, Sola XL and True Vision. Standard lenses are the mid-range level of progressive lens based on the year, make and model of equipment used to develop them.

Bifocal

Bifocal lenses have two viewing areas in the same lens, each with its own focal power. This allows the wearer to see different distances with the same lens by looking through differing areas of the lens. Often used for presbyopia, a condition when the person can no longer focus adequately at near distances, to allow for viewing at distance through the top of the lens and read through the bottom segment of the lens. Bifocals come in different designs such as those that have lines (flat-top, round-top, curved top, executive, etc.) and progressive lenses that have no lines and gradually change focus as the person looks further down in the lens.

UV Treatment

A common eyeglass lens coating that protects eyes from harmful ultraviolet light.

Tint (Solid and Gradient)

A common lens add-on that reduces the light that enters the eyes; can be doctor recommended or for fashion purposes.

Standard Plastic Scratch Coating

A common lens coating that helps reduce scratches on the lenses.

Standard Polycarbonate

A commonly used lighter, thinner lens material that helps create a more impact-resistant lens.

Standard Anti-Reflective Coating

A common lens coating that allows for more light to pass through the lens, cutting down on glare and distracting reflections. This coating is good for night driving and is also cosmetically appealing because it allows others to see your eyes rather than the light reflection off the lenses.
