The Niagara River is one of the shortest rivers in the world but what it lacks in length it more that makes up for in spectacle. The river flows from Lake Erie which is south of The Falls, in to Lake Ontario to the north, and at approximately the half way point of its journey, on the western edge of Goat Island, the 3,660 foot wide river plunges 180 feet into the Niagara Gorge, creating a true Natural Wonder. Due to The Falls occurring on a bend in the river, the best panoramic, all encompassing views are to be found on the Canadian side of Niagara. As you drive south on the Niagara River Parkway spectacular views unfold from approximately Clifton St all the way to Horseshoe Falls, though you will probably hear The Falls before you see them.
