Foundation for Safety Classes

Many of our members have asked, "How is my $1 voluntary contribution to the North Jersey Foundation for Safety actually used?" The following is a brief description of some of the projects we fund with the Foundation For Safety contributions.

  • Handbooks, stop paddles and bright lime green reflective safety vests are provided to school crossing guards through our Adult School Crossing Guard Program.
  • We present bicycle and pedestrian safety programs to students in public, private and parochial schools through the "Otto the Auto" program. The program has been well received by over 200,000 students, as well as educators and parents.
  • We sponsor Police Training programs including Advanced Crash Investigation courses, which provide police officers with the knowledge and training that will contribute to safer highways.
  • School Safety Patrols in our tri-county area receive over 30,000 pieces of safety patrol materials each year. Included in the distribution are bright lime green belts, badges, pins, hats and merit certificates.
  • Each year the Foundation distributes over a quarter of a million pieces of traffic safety literature pertaining to bicycling, pedestrians, defensive driving, occupant protection, D.W.I. and other areas of traffic safety.

** Additional tax-deductible contributions may be made directly to the North Jersey Foundation For Safety at 418 Hamburg Turnpike, Wayne, NJ 07470.
